The development of the project has reached a considerable scale, the traffic volume on roads is increasing, the traffic density and vehicle load are increasing, and the load on highway bridges is increasing day by day. Some road bridges were built before the 1980s in China. Due to their low design load standards, there is a general problem of insufficient bearing capacity. Many of the bridges built after the 1980s have exposed defects, and some of them have severely degraded durability when they are far from reaching the design life, which affects their bearing capacity and service life.
Therefore, it is very urgent for carbon fiber to adopt appropriate reinforcement and transformation technical measures to restore and improve the bearing capacity and traffic capacity of the bridge, and to extend the service life of the bridge to meet the needs of modern transportation.
