The role of aramid fiber in insulating materials

Insulation refers to the use of non-conductive materials to isolate or wrap charged objects to protect against electric shock. Good insulation is the most basic and reliable means to ensure the safe operation of electrical equipment and lines and prevent personal electric shock. Insulation can generally be divided into three categories: gas insulation, liquid insulation and solid insulation. In practical applications, solid insulation is still the most widely used and most reliable insulating material.


Aramid fiber is one of the most suitable raw materials for insulating materials because of its insulating properties, coupled with its super-high strength, high modulus, high temperature resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and light weight.


The cloth (or paper) woven from aramid fiber is widely used in electrical and electronic insulation, such as the core wire, layer and phase insulation of transformers, slot lining insulation of motors, circuit board substrates, radar antennas, and general aramid fibers. Fibrous materials are used as raw materials for insulating cylinders or insulating rods to insulate finished products.
